52 WEEKS!

This week, I am celebrating my decision to create a website and weekly blog. It has been a really great reason to keep me engaged in writing and creating all year. I have settled in to retirement life, and I’m so grateful to have plenty of rewarding work to do each day of the week while Ray is working away in his office across the family room from where I work in my laundry/utility room. He has been working from home since COVID, but it has become much more enjoyable for him this past year since I’ve been “working at home” on my various projects.

Over the past 52 weeks, I’ve shared tips for being organized, cooking and cleaning hacks, recipes, philosophical ruminations, encouragements for wellness, a few pieces of my history, updates on my journey with my music, a little about the projects I’m working on, and descriptions of people and places we’ve enjoyed in some of our travels. Looking back over the titles, I can remember some that were very cathartic for me to write, and I am grateful to know that a few of the articles were helpful to a few folks near and far. Just a couple of weeks ago, I began to feel discouraged because I sort of lost my focus. I have to tell you I was really thankful for the encouragement I received when I talked with my youngest son and his wife about it that day, and for the warm response I received when I wrote about it in my blog that week. It renewed my commitment to myself to just keep striving for the best I can be in this space of offering what I can to whoever, whenever, wherever while I have the time and ability to do so.

I’m looking forward to the next 52 weeks and how the requirement I placed on myself to write an article a week and develop my artistry will blossom from here.

“Bloom where you are planted”

About Me

Thinking about the line from Karen Carpenter’s song, “…don’t worry that it’s not good enough for anyone else to hear…” I have been inspired to “just sing” (and write, and share).

I produced a weekly blog for a little over a year, but now I’m committed to one article a month. I hope to give a little inspiration to those passing by, either through my blog articles or within the other pages I’ve created here.
