Thanksgiving Turkey
For the first time, I’m making TWO turkeys for Thanksgiving – a few weeks apart. Our church potluck this month was an opportunity to share our favorite recipes that we traditionally do for our families on Thanksgiving day. Well, I learned that fresh turkeys aren’t available until mid-November, so I had to resort to purchasing Continue reading

Recipes
A few weeks ago, I said I would post a couple of favorite recipes I enjoyed when I was a girl. I really thought I had hand-written cards from my family for both of them in my binders (see “Better Than A Recipe Box?“), but alas I could find neither. I only found one card Continue reading

Simple Roasted Fish or Chicken
Last week, I wrote about our evening with our new friend from India. He shared my blog with his wife back home, and she wanted to learn how I made the salmon. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve written about food, so I thought I would take this opportunity to share. The first time Continue reading

Rockfish
For years, my go-to white fish was tilapia, because it was inexpensive and always available at Costco in Southern California. At some point, after we moved up to Oregon in 2011, I discovered a white fish that is apparently plentiful in the Pacific Northwest: the awkwardly shaped Rockfish. I find it to be a bit Continue reading

Another Soup Story
The first time I made Italian Wedding Soup was a monumental occasion, because it was the day of my oldest daughter’s wedding. I was overjoyed that day, because I was able to have Ray’s family and my new son-in-law’s family over for meals and pictures before the wedding. The timing was amazing. Only 2 weeks Continue reading

My Easy Bone Broth
The thing that makes this so easy, is the little baggies of chicken stock ingredients I keep in my freezer. For instance, I usually have a few celery ends left that are starting to age that I stow in a snack baggy instead of tossing them. And I always have a small baggy ready when Continue reading

TURKEY (& Special Dinners)
My middle daughter and her husband were here over the weekend, visiting from Tennessee. She is going to make Thanksgiving dinner for his folks next week, and so she asked me about how I make my turkey. When it’s something I only do once a year, there is no way I can remember! A couple Continue reading

Soups
It has begun to get cold here in Eugene, Oregon. We’ve had a few nights by the fire, and evening dinners that consisted of soup, salad, and, on occasion, some bread on the side. It’s that time of year when soup sounds like a comforting meal instead of the side dish you think of once Continue reading

Beans
The last time I made beans was for my Daughter-in-law’s birthday. They were a big hit, and several people asked me what my secret is. I decided I would create a recipe sheet and post it on my “Rechelle’s Recipes for Family Gathering” page. Here is the link to the page: Rechelle’s Recipes for Family Continue reading
About Me
Thinking about the line from Karen Carpenter’s song, “…don’t worry that it’s not good enough for anyone else to hear…” I have been inspired to “just sing” (and write, and share).
I produced a weekly blog for a little over a year, but now I’m committed to one article a month. I hope to give a little inspiration to those passing by, either through my blog articles or within the other pages I’ve created here.
