A Place For Everything

and everything in it’s place. Create spaces with things grouped together where you will use them instead of just dropping things somewhere “for now” because you just walked in the door, haven’t really thought about where it should go, or simply feel like you’re too busy to worry about putting things away at the moment. This is a super basic concept that will end up saving you time and effort once you incorporate it into your home life. Things that are just left somewhere “for now” typically end up multiplying, and then what would have taken a few seconds to put away becomes a job that requires a block of time you rarely feel like you have at your disposal!

As you are trying to define places where things should be put away, ask yourself, “Why am I keeping this where I’m keeping it?” Try to make the things you use the most in the most easily accessible locations, and put all of the things you use for a specific purpose in a location where they are all together. For instance, all of your baking supplies, measuring cups & spoons, and mixing bowls stored in the corner of your kitchen where you keep your mixer will make you much more able to work efficiently on a baking project as opposed to crossing back and forth between cupboards to get all of your essentials together for the task.

This is a little section of my laundry/utility room, where I keep my sewing machine (under the basket on the right), and all of the things that I would need for a sewing or mending project.

Decorative boxes are a great way to store things so the space looks and feels tidy, and you can stack a few boxes in a small space.

  1. That is so funny, I recently created an Amazon list called “everything has a place” or something like that, inspired by you, so I can get ideas for shelving and organization to better foster this in my daily life!

    1. I’m so glad you have felt inspired, my dear Daughter-in-Law! You and my kiddos are the main reasons I created this website and blog. Love you bunches.

About Me

Thinking about the line from Karen Carpenter’s song, “…don’t worry that it’s not good enough for anyone else to hear…” I have been inspired to “just sing” (and write, and share).

I produced a weekly blog for a little over a year, but now I’m committed to one article a month. I hope to give a little inspiration to those passing by, either through my blog articles or within the other pages I’ve created here.
