Tandem Adventures
Two years ago, Ray & I went on an epic road trip with our tandem bicycle in tow (on the top of his Ford Explorer). This trip was a celebration of 35 years of marriage, and our first time crossing the US/Canadian border. We scheduled stays in Washington, USA, Vancouver Island, BC, Vancouver, Canada, and Continue reading

Still Learning at 60
I’m still learning things about life and how I act and react, even as I enter my 7th decade of life. There are some lessons I’ve learned or things I’ve come to realize, but I still feel like I’m climbing the mountain to have some of them ingrained into my being. This month, I’m sharing Continue reading

Unplugged & Plugged In
Over 10 years ago, I DELETED my Facebook account. It had stories and pictures of me with my young family, along with some heart-breaking personal relationships that were crumbling to pieces in a virtual world I didn’t understand. But I didn’t realize the cyber implication of my decision. In short order, I found out I Continue reading

Choices
This week has been extremely busy, with lots of pivot moments and choices between what I was planning to do and what I felt like I needed to do. For instance, we were supposed to travel to Tennessee for several days and get home just in time for a campout at the coast. The travel Continue reading

Almost 60
This week, I enjoyed a quiet celebration of my 59th birthday. We ended up spending 2 nights at the coast, where I really enjoyed my walk on the beach and lots of time to sit and listen to the waves crashing on the shore. We didn’t watch TV or read the news. Ray worked from Continue reading

Cycling Fitness & Lifestyle
We were just young adults having a good time when Ray, Karl, and I used to go out late at night and ride around playing “cops and robbers” on our bicycles. In those days, I had no idea that I would become Ray’s wife a few years later, or the role that bicycles would play Continue reading

Simple Roasted Fish or Chicken
Last week, I wrote about our evening with our new friend from India. He shared my blog with his wife back home, and she wanted to learn how I made the salmon. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve written about food, so I thought I would take this opportunity to share. The first time Continue reading

Rockfish
For years, my go-to white fish was tilapia, because it was inexpensive and always available at Costco in Southern California. At some point, after we moved up to Oregon in 2011, I discovered a white fish that is apparently plentiful in the Pacific Northwest: the awkwardly shaped Rockfish. I find it to be a bit Continue reading

Journeys
After being gone 3 more nights than I originally planned, I’m finally home and happy for the things I experienced and learned on my journey. Some things were really hard to go through, but in every bad situation I have a positive takeaway and thanksgiving in my heart. I think it is the beginning of Continue reading

Letting Go & Holding On
Maybe some of us find it unnerving to realize “I have to let this go.” Maybe most of us struggle to determine what we should let go versus what we should hold on to in spite of challenges we will face. I was thinking about this last night, and decided to search online with the Continue reading
About Me
Thinking about the line from Karen Carpenter’s song, “…don’t worry that it’s not good enough for anyone else to hear…” I have been inspired to “just sing” (and write, and share).
I produced a weekly blog for a little over a year, but now I’m committed to one article a month. I hope to give a little inspiration to those passing by, either through my blog articles or within the other pages I’ve created here.
