Seeds For Life Blooms
I have a confession to make: I am an accidental volunteer. I’ve been volunteering for one organization or another for over 25 years. It all started when I was homeschooling my kids and decided to join Community Home Education Program (CHEP) in Southern California. I had been teaching my kids at home for 4 1/2… Continue reading

Women Aging Powerfully
…and Gracefully. As I feel my age hindering me physically and mentally, I am so impressed with the women in my life who are several years ahead of me. I’m grateful to observe their gumption, and learn-new-things attitude even though they certainly are dealing with even more hindrances than I, at 60, can imagine facing… Continue reading

Spare Time In Retirement
The other day, I had finished all my chores at home and set out to run some errands while Ray was still working (he works from home). I had several stops to make and wanted to look for a couple of kitchen tools at TJ Maxx. It was my last stop that afternoon, and I… Continue reading

Traveling Lighter
The first two years in my retirement, I flew to Tennessee three times a year in order to visit my daughter and her husband. Flying across the country by myself gave me good reason to evaluate my travel gear and find practical ways to lighten my load. Now I’d like to share some of the… Continue reading

Washington DC Trip-October 2025
Remember when I told you I took a detour to San Antonio, Texas on the way home from Tennessee after Mother’s Day? Well, my story about our Washington DC trip started while I was on my first solo travel excursion last May. After a very full day on the Premium City Tour with Alamo &… Continue reading

My Typewriter
By 1995, the last major manual typewriter manufacturer, Smith-Corona, shut down. About 16 years later, manual typewriter production ceased in the world when Godrej and Boyce closed their plant in Mumbai, India. These events came and went in my lifetime with no notice or sorrow attached to them. When I was in High School in… Continue reading

Grateful & Changes
Saturday, November 30, 2024 Over the past two months, I’ve had opportunities to help some of my kids with big life events. I’m thankful for the freedom I have had to pivot my daily activities at a moment’s notice so I could be available for my loved ones. I know that it is a huge… Continue reading

Home Stretch
With only 14 songs left to complete before the next phase of my “Cherished Hymns” song book, I am excited – and a bit in awe – that another big change in my life is looming on the horizon. I should be finished in the next couple of days, and then I’ll have a few… Continue reading

Almost 60
This week, I enjoyed a quiet celebration of my 59th birthday. We ended up spending 2 nights at the coast, where I really enjoyed my walk on the beach and lots of time to sit and listen to the waves crashing on the shore. We didn’t watch TV or read the news. Ray worked from… Continue reading

Why?
This week’s Website Wednesday started with an email from WordPress showing that my very small readership got even smaller last month. Even though I said I didn’t start this work for anything more than my own “dream job” where I could contribute what I felt from my heart week to week, I have to admit… Continue reading
About Me
Thinking about the line from Karen Carpenter’s song, “…don’t worry that it’s not good enough for anyone else to hear…” I have been inspired to “just sing” (and write, and share).
I produced a weekly blog for a little over a year, but now I’m committed to one article a month. I hope to give a little inspiration to those passing by, either through my blog articles or within the other pages I’ve created here.
