My blog post today is going to be short.
I just want to take a moment to celebrate the decision I made to retire early, and establish my own “perfect job” at home. I’m celebrating my 26th weekly blog post, which means I’ve been working at my new self-made occupation for half a year:
“Mama Help Mondays” = The day I set aside to help my oldest daughter with child care needs
“Tertiary Tuesdays” = Volunteer efforts in my community
“Website Wednesdays” = Creating content for my new website and writing my blog post for the week
“Theatric Thursdays” = Work on video production and recording my original songs
“Fruitful Fridays” = Work on “Cherished Hymns,” a new, custom, song book for my church to use instead of photocopies that we are using through CCLI (Christian Copyright Licensing, International)
I’m very happy with the work I’ve done helping my daughter with her kiddos, and it couldn’t have come at a better time, because she and her family were at a crossroads with her work and their schooling/childcare. I’m very thankful for the hard times and decisions that brought me to my New Frontier at home, because it made me available to offer help in a way I wouldn’t have been able to do with my previous occupation(s).
In the past 26 weeks, “Tertiary Tuesdays” has overflowed to most of the other days of the week. Despite my efforts to move away from my involvement at the Junction City Grange, several things emerged that made me feel compelled to continue to help – for a season. I’m still trying to figure out a proper balance with that work, and possibly move on to other “Tertiary” work elsewhere in the months or years ahead. So, even though I have questions about my Tuesday work, I’m happy with my goal for work on Thursdays and Fridays, and hope to become more consistent in producing weekly content on my YouTube channel and for “Cherished Hymns.” I guess the thing I’m most proud of, so far, (besides “Mama Help”) is the fact that I have consistently created a weekly blog post, even if some of them have trickled to Sunday to be posted (like today)!
Overall, I’m giving myself a positive 6-month review, with room for improvement.
I’m celebrating changes, accomplishments, growth, and hope for more of these in my future.
What are You celebrating?
